The Siu Lam Wing Chun wooden dummy - training on one of the most legendary Kung Fu devices
On April 26 and 27, 2025, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of the Siu Lam Wing Chun wooden dummy (Muk Yan Zong). In this introductory workshop, led by Sifu Peter Scholz, you will learn the basics of this world-famous training method.
The wooden dummy is one of the most iconic training tools in Wing Chun and is used to train strikes, hand techniques, position, distance and angles in infighting. The wooden dummy was already an integral part of training on the Red Junk of the Guangdong Opera and has inspired fighters all over the world ever since. The wooden dummy form of Siu Lam Wing Chun, with its 108 movements, is characterized in particular by its directness and applicability. It makes it possible to learn and refine techniques in a structured and at the same time practical way.
What can you expect in the workshop?
In this two-day workshop you will:
- learn the basic movements and principles of the Siu Lam Wing Chun wooden dummy form,
- understand how to use the wooden dummy to improve strength, technique and precision,
- recognize and practice the importance of position, distance and angle in infighting,
- experience practical applications of the movements and refine your skills.
