Longpole

Origin of the longpole

The longpole (Luk Dim Bun Gwan, 6.5 points Longpole) with its exceptional form is the specialty of the Tang Family. Parts of this form, however, are practiced in all Wing Chun styles.

Due to their virtuosity, power and speed, the members of the Tang Family were called the Kings of the Longpole. In addition to the longpole form, there is the Longpole Wooden Dummy, which was also transferred by the Tang Family to today’s Siu Lam Wing Chun.

Quality Standard

Sifu Peter Scholz learned the longpole of the Tang Family in the years 2013 to 2016. Sifu Michael Tang named me the German King of Longpole in 2013.

Next Generation

Sifu Peter Scholz passed on the longpole form of the Tang Family to his best students.

Next Generation: Max Kraft shows his longpole form to his Sigung Michael Tang in 2016, Hong Kong, Victoria Park:

Here Sifu Michael Tang’s comment was:

And so I’m especially pleased when happens what every teacher wants. The next generation does it well and better.
And we want to pass on the art of the Tang Family to many others, so that the Siu Lam Wing Chun Kung Fu comes to a new bloom.
