Dear members and friends of Berlin Siu Lam Wing Chun Pai and SLWCP Fight Academy,
we ended the year with an unforgettable Advent Joint Venture Celebration 2024! It was a day full of impressive presentations, personal achievements and shared joy. Our children’s, youth and adult groups impressively demonstrated how we combine tradition and modernity in our martial art.
Directly below this article you will find a highlight video that summarizes the best moments of our event. Take a look and experience the enthusiasm that characterized this special day!
Your children and young people in action
Your children and young people kicked things off by bringing the diversity and depth of traditional Siu Lam Wing Chun to the stage. With the Saam Baai Fat hand form, they showed how the principles and concepts of our martial art remain alive. They then presented practical applications such as defense against punches and kicks, shoulder levers, control holds and ground fighting positions. Everyone was thrilled by the precision and energy they displayed!
Point fighting and Sanda – a cautious introduction to free fighting
We are particularly proud of the performances by our children and young people in the areas of point fighting and Sanda. They impressively demonstrated how we carefully introduce our young fighters to free fighting. The focus here is on developing a cool head, strategic thinking and technically clean fighting. It was impressive to see how confidently and controlled the children and young people moved in free combat – great proof of the quality of their training and their growing self-confidence.
Connection to the Luk Dim Bun Gwan long pole form – tradition at the highest level
Another highlight of the day was undoubtedly the demonstration of the long pole form Luk Dim Bun Gwan by our youth group. This extraordinary form, which comes from the Tang family lineage, plays a central role in the philosophy and training of our school. It was passed down from Grandmaster Tang Yik and his father Grandmaster Tang Syun and forms a bridge to the roots of Siu Lam Wing Chun.
The long pole form is not only the longest, but also the most technically demanding Wing Chun long pole form, which impresses with its high level of complexity, precision and effectiveness. The work with distance and angles shown in the demonstration was particularly impressive. The famous, almost floating step work, which is an identification mark of this form, is also mastered by our young people with ease and elegance.
The presentation made it clear how deeply rooted this form is in our school and how much it contributes to the development of discipline, body control and fighting skills. The demonstration also reflected the respect we have for the tradition and teachings of the Tang family. We are proud to carry this valuable tradition into the modern age and pass it on to the next generation.
Our adults – strength, technology and tradition
You, our adult students, also showed with your presentations how strong and versatile Siu Lam Wing Chun is. The traditional Shaolin partner exercises such as Daa Saam Sing were a real eye-catcher. This exercise, which trains your speed, agility and toughness, is an essential part of many Kung Fu styles and is also an extremely popular practice in Karate – and the result was demonstrated with great commitment, precision and fighting spirit.
Then the wooden dummy form was presented and the Ci Sau (sticky hands) in our characteristic infight style. Particularly impressive was the fluid, almost floating footwork, which always gives you a decisive advantage in competition. It was a real pleasure to see you in action!
Stories and community
In between the impressive performances, it got cozy. For our children and of course you, dear parents, there were wonderful stories that enchanted not only the little ones. We brought the year to a close together, celebrating the many successes we have achieved together and looking forward to what lies ahead.
